A few model sheets
So I've slowly been working on a character lineup. This is mostly for difference in body type/height. Eventually, I'll take each one and make a model sheet for them, which I have done for Ghost and Night (the 2nd and 3rd characters).
I would LIKE to do Lani's model sheet next because she's the main character!
Here are Ghost and Night's model sheets.
Night (real name, Nigel) has two different appearances: during the day and during the night, which is where his nickname comes from. In the daytime, his eyesight isn’t that great up-close, so he needs glasses. At nighttime, though, everything improves.
He’s quite a nerd.
During evening hours, his appearance changes to this. It’s something to do with his genes, being that his other half is a mystical race, but that’s all I can tell you! He doesn’t know anything about it, so right now he’s trying to find answers. When Lani is bestowed with mysterious powers, Night is closer to those answers.
The mask is worn to hide his emotions during any fights, as well as to protect his identity for the most part. If in public and not expecting to engage in combat, he wears tinted sunglasses to hide his strange eye color.
He’s been learning martial arts for a short while and can hold his own against weaker enemies in melee fights. However, he chooses to use a strange type of magic power that comes along with this alter ego.

I saved a handful of progress shots for this commission, so I figured I'd post them all here.
Sketch:
Characters inked:
Full picture inks:
Flat colors:
The moon in the first picture was bothering me, so I fixed it.
Rendering progress:
Most of the background is finished in this, but I would go and adjust a lot of it later on.

Haven't posted in a while. o__o
Have a gander at the commissions I've recently completed:
The sketches are what I offered for anyone who commissioned a full color picture.

Skyward Sword process
Recently, I decided to do a fan art for Skyward Sword. Here's the process I went through~!
First and foremost, the sketch.
I did some quick shading, but didn't give it much thought (you'll see they're all in the same light source). If I had saved the sketch without shading, I would post it, but unfortunately I collapsed all layers before closing Photoshop the first night.
And now, the line work.
I did an initial pass for inking, then went over them again with bolder lines. Since Link is the main focus, I accentuated his lines even more. Lately I've been trying to use bold lines in my work to more closely reflect my sketches.
Link took the longest to ink because I wasn't satisfied with his sketch; it wasn't dynamic enough. So, I had to spend some time fixing him up until I felt it looked presentable.
It seems I forgot to set the opacity of Ghirahim and Fi's lines to 100% in the second picture...
Flat colors.
Speaks for itself. Although, it seems like I forgot to set Ghirahim and Fi's layers to 100% (again) before saving out the first version.
The second picture includes adjustments to their layers, such as opacity and an overlaying color. Making Ghirahim and Fi less contrasted helps put more focus on Link and Zelda.
Shading Ghirahim.
First pass, basic shading. Second pass, back lighting. Third pass, layer adjustments.
Didn't notice I saved out the third JPG with Fi's shading. Oops XD
Shading Fi.
Fi's shading went different. I wanted to do back lighting on all the characters, but I felt it would be a bit too much on Fi with her shiny surface. So, I just left it out. Second pic is her layer adjustments.
Shading Zelda.
First pass, basic shading. Second pass, back lighting. In the third pass, the only layer adjustment Zelda has is a light gradient overlay, which doesn't even make that much difference (but subtlety can go a long way).
Shading Link.
First pass, basic shading. Second pass, back lighting. I wanted to reflect a sort of heated/gusty environment, so I made his back lighting and layer adjustments orange. As far as his layer adjustments, he has a gradient overlay and a drop shadow.
And finally...with the adjustments on Link....
The finished product!
I hope you enjoyed my walkthrough. :]

Character-a-Day 1-4
I'm pretty behind with the November characters. About 11 days, in fact. Been pretty lackluster this week as far as inspiration so I haven't done much. >_>;
Vox is Bernadetta's onidos partner. His power is electricity.
Character 1
Vox is Bernadetta's onidos partner. His power is electricity.
Character 2
Baby Doll is just a random dog girl. Haha.
Character 3
Izo is Jamine's onidos partner. Her power is water.
Character 4
Jules is the butler of the Valgakurem estate and Lieutenant is the guard dog. He accompanies Jules almost everywhere.
Once I have a few more I'll make another post. Need to work on catching up!
